The Wanderer
Ryan M Barnes
I don’t know where this road is taking me—it’s my future
I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to find it
I’ve stopped relying on those that have gone before me—I’ve learned from their legacy
God has stepped behind me to nudge me—My feet have left the ground
I have no destination that I must reach but my own legacy to leave
I’ve got a choice before me now—through the fire or should I turn back
I’ve been given the vision—Who else can lead the way
Past the pipes and through the cave and into the darken night
I’ve gotten farther than Chester Copperpot—I’ve left the old man behind in his dusty cave
I’ve taken the key from his neck—I’ll succeed where he has failed
Because I persevere in faith knowing I’ve got more to gain than I can lose
And this time I am not alone - One Eyed Willie, here we come
You’d better set your traps ‘cause here we come
and this time we’re not alone
The wind is blowin’ above my head—Rows of vineyards as far as I can see
It’s not in my blood to quit now that I’ve got a glimpse of what lies ahead
The sky is blazing a fiery red—I’m feeling this life, this life in me
I’ve played the bones, the bridge has dropped—I’ll raise my hands and take this slide
One Eyed Willie, here we come
You’d better set your traps ‘cause here we come
And it’s only the beginning…
