In the middle of everything…

Life is awesome and busy right now, but I’m having a great time! I want to take a moment and thank all of you, my dear fans, for being a part of my life and for listening to my music. I’m so excited about my upcoming release of Never Lived in LA. I’ve switched to download cards for this album which is a little different, but I think it’s much better. Lemme ‘splain… These download cards are the same as you see in Wal Mart of Target – the album cover on the front, a code on the back to enter and download the entire album & artwork. The big difference with this one is that you’ll be downloading the MP3′s directly, and it’s not iTunes or Windows Media Player specific. It will work on all computers, all MP3 players, and (if you’re still one of those that does this) you can burn it straight to a CD! It makes it much easier for you, and as very few people use actual CDs anymore, it cuts down tremendously on the waste. I am a big fan of living on my Earth, and so I’d like to do what I can to keep it livable!
This album has some great music coming from deep in my heart, as well as a couple of my friends’ songs on there as well. I know you’re going to love it! I’ve been consistently spending the nights – from 10 until 1 – in the studio making everything just perfect!
I’m getting ready to start Roger Rocka’s production of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and it’s going to be a great show! Full of fun music, okies like my family, and some great stunt dancing, it’ll be like going to The Golden Horseshoe! Make sure you pick up tickets (let them know I sent you so I get credit!) and be ready for a fun night!
In the meantime, I’ve been pretty frequent at the open mic Monday’s at The Revue, so if you’re out and about or just want to hear a good variety of great music, come on by and show your support! They’ve got a great theater in the back, and for a cover charge they only ask that you make a purchase, so it’s a great deal!
I’ve been helping the Mrs kick off her business, http://silvertoothdesigns.com and she’s doing great making some great stuff! Check it out and buy some pants or a scarf – you’ll love it!
One last thing is I’ve been working on writing iPhone apps, so very shortly you’ll be able to download the highly coveted Silvertooth right into your pocket! If you’re a musician and wanting to get your stuff out there, hit me up and we’ll work out a good price to make you shine like the stars in the blacken sky!
Thanks again everyone for your support, your love, and your purchases. You are my Valentines
Ryan

Talk [2 way] Radio…

I’ve often wondered what the reason is for speakerphones in public. I suppose we have Nextel to thank for that – as the whole idea of Direct Connect came into play, many middle aged men liked the idea of pretending to have walkie-talkies to “talk business” into. Comical as it was, the true form of entertainment came as you heard them get chewed out by their bosses while in a store or restaurant…so much for the coolness factor. As a non-foolish-looking-person looking on, you HAD to laugh at the poor soul being berated in public. Otherwise, you’re left with irritation bordering anger that someone is right next to you yelling at their phone as this Direct Connect system wasn’t very clear.
Down the road of time a few years, and now almost every phone has a speaker phone built in. Unfortunately, with that multiplies exponentially the folk who are using it improperly, having private, personal conversations about health, families, their sex life, how their sex life with their families affected their health (seriously…these are NOT the things speakerphones were made for!!). It’s enough to make HIPAA cry out in pain! But we (or I, at least) get to experience this in the airport, on a bus, in a restaurant, at the park, in a bathroom – guaranteed at any place with a decent size crowd due to its common availability. Unfortunately, those using this “cool technology” often have not pieced together some important facts: 1) You don’t have to yell. Yelling only distorts the microphone, making it even more difficult for your listener to understand. 2) When “speakerphone” is activated, the sensitivity dynamic changes on your tiny pinhead-sized microphone allowing even MORE background noise to come through. 3) The further away the phone is from your mouth, the more difficult it is to hear you. Which leads us to… 4) Since it’s right next to your face anyway, take it off speakerphone!! Your conversation is a horrible annoyance to everyone around you! You’re in public…show a bit of class here or at least stop wearing deodorant…your smell will NOT change the opinions of those around you after offending them with your audio vomit.
